What is Zumba?

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness program created by dance and choreapgrapher Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s.

This dance workout is currently one of the most popular and exciting dancing work outs in the world. It is a “fitness phenomona”. The best way to explain this Latin inspired dance routine is to compare it to being in a swank nightclub, dancing your heart away.

Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. the program combines Latin and international music with dance to make exercise fun.

It is rumoured that Zumba is Spanish slang for “to move fast and have fun”. It is definitely FUN!

Zumba exercises include music with fast and slow rhythms and resistance training for fitness and losing weight. The music comes from the following dance styles: cumbia, salsa, merengue, mambo, flamenco, chachacha, reggaeton, soca, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, hip hop music, axe music and tango.

How it works

Zumba and weight loss
